adrift in post-production

Adrift is a short film written by Beau Young and Jay Miller, with Jay Miller directing and Beau Young as director of photography. The film is a fictional drama telling the story of single mother Emma, and her young adult daughter Olivia who lives with down-syndrome. Olivia is at a point in her life when she wants to explore her individualism which confronts Emma with the fear of discovering herself as an individual. Emma does what she can to try and prevent her daughter from going too far from her care but is eventually faced with pushback and the understanding that the whole reason Emma has put so much effort into raising Olivia is to ensure she can live independently one day. It’s just that day is coming too soon for Emma.

It’s a universal story of dealing with the empty nest while putting a spotlight on intellectual disabilities. The film is currently in post-production with plans to be in Australian and International film festivals later in 2023 and 2024.

Claire Bocking plays Emma, Rae Pastuszak plays Olivia, and Trent Potter plays Link. We’re very excited and looking forward to bringing this short film to audiences in the near future.
